My auger was working fine the other day, my igniter went out. I replaced the igniter and it’s working but my auger won’t work now. Wiring looks fine, auger isn’t clogged, I can’t see or hear the auger even trying to operate. Any ideas? I assume if the fuse was blown, nothing would work. It started raining so tomorrow I’m going to double check if a wire came loose from a connection somewhere.

When mine stopped working a sheer pin fell out. Not sure if this is your issue or not but working looking into.
Thanks MikeInFla:, I’ll check that out, nice video too. It’s suppose to stop raining later today. I take it the motor and fan kept working? That’s going to be my first check, if they’re working and the auger isn’t, you’re right.

Yes. those still worked but since the pin fell out it would not turn the auger. Once I got it fixed I was back in business.

MikeInFla after checking wires and retracing my igniter install I got it working, not sure what I touched but, it’s working. I noticed one thing though, the auger motor and fan move back and forth, does yours or is it ridged? I’ve been using hickory pellets and they seem pretty hard.

There should be a shear pin from the motor to the auger just like in the video - a black pin. If the motor runs and the auger doesn't spin that may be what happened. I don't know if they use the same design on every model but I assume there should be a pin. Also look at the end of the auger that connect to the motor, if it has a small hole there where it looks like a pin should go but it isn't there then that is what happened.

It’s all working as it should now, motor and auger both. I can reach up in there and feel the shear pin, feels fine. I just noticed that the auger motor is not ridged, it kind of floats. I can’t see or feel any mounting holes or screws to keep it affixed solid. Other than that, it’s good to go. The motor floating may be normal, not sure. Thank you for your input.

Yes, the motor floats. It is supposed to be that way. I found it odd when I saw that too but I had Pit Boss on the phone when I was troubleshooting and they said the motor floats to keep it from being damaged.

Yes the auger motor floats, I saw somewhere someone maybe Smoke Daddy has a kit to fix the motor.
I am not sure if it would be better mounted or floating, I was tempted to mount mine to see what happens but so far I have not had any auger problems so I will probably just leave it alone.

Auger turns for 5 seconds and stops, turn on again turns for 5 seconds and stops, first PB BBQ any ideas of what's wrong?
