I have had my pit boss classic since Father’s Day and have had no problems with it until last Tuesday I was smoking a brisket and was about 4 hours into it when it wouldn’t hold a temp so I took the grill and drip plate out and had a pile of pellets overflowing out of the auger!! Any comments on what is causing this and how to fix it would be much appreciated!

Sometimes it will flame out then continue to feed pellets. Did you have it on smoke setting? What did you have the P setting on? It's always best to leave it on 4 if I ever change it I have the same problem you had so I just leave it on 4.

Not really sure, sometime is just happens (I have had it happen 4 or 5 times over 2 years)

I have had a Pit Boss 700 for about three and a half years it worked fine until sawdust stuck my auger in place then I had to remove the auger and clean the track after that I had to replace the board because the auger would not stop turning no matter what the setting was but after replacing the board it is working fine the auger would do as you say it would not stop turning and so the pellets kept building up until I had a flash fire but now it's working great.

I got mine on Father's day also. Works great for grilling, but I have yet to successfully "smoke" something without it doing the same thing as yours! Flame goes out and fills up with pellets. Then, the only way to get it going again and pull everything out, remove the overflow of pellets, and restart the grill. If you don't follow these steps, it will flame up and overheat. Ugh! It's SO aggravating!

After talking to a grill salesman and everybody else i could find i was told the control boards had major malfunctions since mine was out of warrenty i ordered one off ebay for less than half what pit boss wanted. That fixed it. Its been working fine now for at least 2 months and i use mine 3 to 6 times a week.

I am debating on buying a control board off amazon, but not sure which one. And maybe igniter. Has anybody used a control board other than pittboss
