I have not used my 1100 LP gas barrel side yet but when doing the burn off the three burners got it to 500 F easily. It it possible you need to adjust how far the propane supply pipe is going into the manifold pipe or maybe adjust the sleeve that adjust the air supply ?

Propane tanks have a feature that reduces flow to almost nothing if the line is cut or severed. If you open the valve too quickly, there is a momentary high flow as the system fills and pressurize. This flow is enough to trigger the high flow shutoff feature and will result in low flames. Solution is to first, turn off tank valve, then open it very slowly to pressurize the system without activating the high flow shutoff. Barely crack the valve at first.

Dont forget to vent pressure in the lines before turning the gas back on slowly...
