My pit boss...model is not clearly labeled....it's a small pro series....very simple....will not cook below 450.

I turn on power and even with the dial in the "off" position the cook heading reads 450. Turn to smoke and its 475, 200 degrees 475, once I hit 225, all I get is an H. I think the probe is fine....it's like my dial has been calibrated off. If I turn this thing to the highest setting it'll be burning at 700 degrees. I can cook anything.

So in the pic....dial is off....cook is 450...probe is 100 and actual is 130....is this normal?

Before you call support, I think I know what is wrong. You might not have tried this yet, but can you rotate the knob counter clockwise so that is goes past OFF and shows you the temp set points less than 450? If so, here's how to fix it.

Remove the rubber grippy ring on your controller knob. It just stretches and pulls off the front of the knob. There is a small screw that attaches the chrome knob to the shaft. Sounds like it was installed incorrectly. Loosen the screw, rotate the knob so that the dot on the knob matches the temperature set point on the controller, and tighten the screw. This should fix it. Let us know if this works for you.

I thought I'd follow up with pictures. And now I'm not convinced that my suggestion above will work. At least on mine, the knob can only go onto the shaft one way, so I'm not sure you can rotate it.

The shaft might have been installed incorrectly onto the controller from the factory and you may not be able to fix it. Although if you check to see if you can rotate the knob counter-clockwise like I said above, you could always just put a new indicator mark on your knob that is correct, and ignore the current one. Good luck!
