We were smelling smoke and thought the neighbors had bought a smoker. Then my wife said it was our smoker that was running.

I had the smoker plugged in and covered and the on/off button is so sensitive that a little wind moved the cover (I think) or maybe a gecko crawled on it.....and she started up all by herself.

I really wish it had one of the old fashion buttons. That capacitance button is going to force me to unplug it when I don't use it.

Terrible safety concern.

why would you want the wifi to stay on when your grill is off?
I would unplug anything I am not using, you know the power switch may be off but the power is on all the time all the way to your switch, so even a little creature like a gecko or a wire eating rat can cause you a problem.
Be safe and unplug it when not in use.

For those of us who want the WiFi to remain on .....the power needs to be on. And unplugging is not convenient...should be a switch.
I can't think of a single good reason to leave your smoker plugged in. You can't turn the device on with the app, so what possible reason could you have to want to wifi to remain connected. Even if you could turn it on with the device connected, you need to have the lid open when starting. I'm sorry, but this seems like 100% user error and without any good reason for that error whatsoever.

Having said that, I do agree that they should've skipped the touch sensitive buttons. There's little reason for them, and I have to believe that physical press buttons would have a longer life. The large numbers on the display are nice though.
