I just bought the Austin XL a few days ago and the only time I can see anything on the digital readout is at night. The display during the day looks completely blank. It still maintains temp and starts up fine but I can’t monitor the temp. Anyone have the same problem?

I have a Silver Star vertical chip smoker. I can barely see the digital display with the sun shining on its face. I found if I turn it around out of the sun it is much easier to read.

That's one of the biggest issues I have with mine right now. watching the thread. I've wondered about getting one of the other control panels with brighter LEDs and hacking it into the components (auger, grill temp sensor, igniter, etc...).

My lexington did the same thing the 3rd or 4th time I used it. Contacted Pitboss and they sent me a new controller. Installed and have had zero issues since then.

You are saying that they replaced your controller for free and that the replacement is nice and bright?

Yes, it was under warranty.

WOW. I already had reasons to like Pit Boss. Now...they are sending me a new control unit, too. NICE.

I actually called them yesterday and they have a new controller on the way. Super easy process, took about 10 minutes. The rep was very helpful.
