I got an ERL code after smoking a brisket at 250 for 8 or 9 hours.

Before this, I had brought my smoker (Austin XL) out for the first time in 4 months or so. I was getting ERL code errors after it was on for 10 or 15 minutes, so I vacuumed up all the sawdust at the bottom and cleaned the RTD probe with an alcohol wipe. I thought I was good to go but the ERL code came way later, when I was about done with my cook.

Any suggestions?

Did you clean the temperature sensor?
Dirty sensor’s throw this code. I use a sponge and dishwashing liquid and wipe it with a paper towel
Hopefully this helps you 🇺🇸🇺🇸

I did clean it prior to the 8 hour cook with an alcohol wipe.

Do you need to clean it after each cook?
I clean mine before and after each cook. You mainly need to keep the end clean. I use non green oven cleaner. Soak the end of a rag and start wiping. Use gloves if you have tender hands. LoL
