Fairly new owner with twmp question

I have a lexington 500 and I can set it to a temp 260 example and the board will say its 250 but the guage on outside of barrel is quite a bit lower as in 50 degrees Lower. Any suggestions?

the gauge on the barrel means nothing I would ignore it even Pit Boss says not base your grill on it always use the controller temp.
