Brand new to our pellet grill (two batches of chicken so far) but we've had a shop-built offset firebox pit smoker that we can also use charcoal under the meat for several years. Not sure if the bare steel flame broiler plate is a 'feature' that gets seasoned with drippings or is just a plate that needs to be cleaned. I'm using a youtube tip of scraping the plate clean with wood door frame shims, then Dawn soap. How clean do I want it?

I’d just keep it clean.
Hopefully this helps you 🇺🇸🇺🇸

I just scrape it with a putty knife when I take it apart to vacuum the burn pot. Just so you don't get enough build up to burn

I just scrape it off with a putty knife also if I dont use HD. foil over it. I have been using foin and it makes it much easier. I am real picky about my smoker so I clean it after every use no matter what I cook.
