Full Burn Pot

For those that smoke over “12” hours, does your burn pot get full of ashes? And how do you deal with it if you need to smoke for more hours? Do you turn your smoker off and clean out the pot and then relight!

For those that smoke over “12” hours, does your burn pot get full of ashes? And how do you deal with it if you need to smoke for more hours? Do you turn your smoker off and clean out the pot and then relight!

I've done many cooks anywhere from 12 -18 hours and never had my burn pot get full. I usually use Bear Mountain or Cookin pellets because they produce less ash.

I also did a few 16–18-hour smokes with Bear Mountain and never had to pull out the ash catcher.

I've done 12+ hour cooks and never felt compelled to stop and clean it out. I've never had any issues. I usually use Pit Boss or Kirkland pellets.

Ditto what the others said here for my vertical. I use Sam’s Club pellets mostly.

I have done 24 hr brisket with plenty of room .but one thing for sure I do empty it before every smoke as a precaution against the hopper fire issue

Same here as part of my post cook clean up.

Up to 18 hour cooks, never a full burn pot. Have only used PB pellets. Vacuum and clean up after every cook.

I clean pot before every long smoke. Never had a problem. I have used Pitboss, Royal Oak, Bear Mountain and Kirkland pellets.
