Good day fellow smokers,
Just joined this forum. Wish I had found it sooner. I have had my Pro Series 1100 for about 6 years. I bought it right before they upgraded the electronics to include Blue Tooth and phone control. Stumbled across the forum last night as I have been dealing with temp issues for about a year it seems and got worse on Christmas trying to get the prime rib smoked. I had never had an issues before but seemed very unstable. That day was cold and ended up having to put an old coat over it and open the sear grate to get the temp up but still wasn't stable. I recently ordered the thermal blanket that still didn't seem to help but haven't smoked much the past month. Last night smoked some Mac, and had same issues, but when it got up to 225, I bumped it up to 350 since I wanted it hotter. Then it dropped to 155. I closed the sear grate and then it steadily moved up to 345.
Well long story longer, I found a post on here and already ordered the mod to update the left side drop tray holder, and excited to get that resolved. Last night I was on the verge of ordering another unit. But glad I waited. I can save the money on some other things. Already ordered the mod to at the link provided. Can't wait.
Anyway, I am in VA and been smoking meats for decades and love my pit boss. And looking forward to browsing the forums and getting to know some folks.
