Hey all, new to forum and smoking.

I have the 1150 pro series pellet smoker. After smoking some ribs, I went to empty the ash from the burn pot and grease poured out as I removed it from the grill. Not from the burn pot specifically, more the structure that holds the burn pot. Is this normal? Makes me nervous about a grease fire.

I agree it is the drip pan. Make sure it is placed so one side is higher. Mine has two slots that mate with the grill. If you continue to have grease leaking down a leg you will need to seal the grill seams and bolt holes in that area. I had to do that. A tip is to not place the meat too far to the front or back and allow the dripping to miss the grease pan. To get grease out from under the burn area I raise one side of the grill with 2x4s when grilling. Any grease will flow to the area beyond the burn area and I can easily access it.
