grommet melts

My grommet for the slide rod melted into two pieces I have a bunch of grommets but none that size, I might have to enlarge the hole to fit a better grommet.
I don't know if Pit Boss would send me one but I don't want to call and wait on hold to find out.
the OD, ID are too close so the grommet will always fail. Need more difference in the OD and ID as the rubber is too thin.

So I checked and the grommet has a 1/2 inch ID and fits hole size 9/16 inch, that's a .050 or a 3/64 inch wall thickness.
I am changing to a grommet with a wall thickness of .125 or 1/8 inch, that's more than double the wall thickness.
