Heat wont maintain

I'm new to smokers and cooking on them. My temperature won't maintain it is set at 350 and goes up to over 400. Please help.

What type of pellet smoker do you have? How long have you had it? How long does it stay over 400 during a cook? Sometimes there are swings but only for a few minutes and this is normal. If it stays above 400 it might be your internal thermometer probe. You can call Pit Boss customer service 1-877-303-3134 and leave a call back number. They can help you trouble shoot.

Thanks for your information. I think i might have just been a little impatient. Its the first time I started it brand new yesterday. I think it is leveled out good now. Thanks again.
