Hello,
Used to do minimal smoking with a vertical char broil charcoal smoker. Next, a friend and I built an off set firebox and smoking chamber out of 55 gallon drums. Used it a few times before it rusted out.

Now I have a Pit Boss Pro vertical smoker, the only complaints are what others state, the drip pan and a hard to see led.

I ran into the back burn once but that was completely my fault.

I love the unit and am very pleased with my purchase a couple of years ago.

Welcome. I love my verticle and really haven't had major issues with mine other than the controller will not shut off by button push so I have to use the app. Haven't had time to call customer service to work through it. Only mod I did was take out the protect grid from the pellet box so I can easily push unused pellets out the door after every use.
 
This could be interesting
I use sauce after cooking but I personally like thicker sauces. For the butts/shoulders I have used dry rub with a layer of mustard. I mix the dry rub with honey, melted butter, cider vinegar, and apple juice or apple sauce and water.

Ribs, I like Sweet Baby Rays regular or spicy, I also like KC Masterpiece. If my lack of heavy vinegar based is shocking it’s probably because where I grew up, in CT.

I do like to mess around but my family isn’t as adventurous as me.
