Fist off welcome from NH . As far as your hopper fire a few things come to mind. 1-Improper shut down without going through the cool down cycle. 2- the smoker not being completely level. 3- a flame out. All 3 could cause the the pellets to burn back to the hopper. There might be other causes, I'm certainly not an expert. Good luck to you. I hope this hopper fire doesn't steer you away from the pellet game.

Do ya care to elaborate on what was going on when this happened? Did it happen during a smoke session or after?

I had been smoking about 225 for three hours. smelled a lot of smoke, went outside and found smoke rolling out of hopper bin. Then came the flames.

Pitt boss asked me to to send pics, then disassemble and take more pics. they said the would send me a control board, and a site glass when one comes available. As far as the warped metal on the hopper bin they said a I could repaint.
