Incorrect box temp reading

When I first start the electric smoker the box temp is 350 so I cleaned the probe. Any ideas on what else I could try to do to fix the incorrect temp reading?

Might be a bad probe. Mine did the same thing. I cleaned it off and it instantly went to 350 then 500 then ErH code. Pit Boss sent me one for free and I ordered one from Amazon with one day shipping and I am back in business. I am not sure if this is your problem or not but it is what worked for me. Call customer service and leave a call back number.

Just make sure it fits your model, the vertical smokers have a different probe. This is the one I ordered.
