Slowly getting my grill cleaned up & getting ready for use. Was purchased used & dirty. Had to order the griddle & flame tents since they were missing when purchased. Griddle plate has arrived but the three tents have been on back order for nearly a month now.

Turned on the propane side for the first time today. My question is how much flame height should I be seeing? It seems like my flame output is low. Thanks…

I have had my KC Combo for 2 years now. The flame hight is low since day one but it does cook with no problems. You do not use the flame tents when using the griddle. Enjoy your new toy.

Hey Tallant,
I have a couple Crawfish/crab pots, big ones. They both have a variable regulator. I use those variables on everything now. I light the burners on a relatively low burn then turn the grill burner valves to wide open, then crank up the regulator until flame is jumping away from the burner tubes and then dial it back a little until the flames are back barely touching the tubes. Then I set the grill valves to the required setting.
Sometimes the orifice(s) get carbonized, or other debris will close the tiny hole up. At a welding store they sell torch tip cleaners. They are tiny rattail files, more expensive ones are twist bits. If your unit doesn't seem to be putting out enough gas the orifices could use a cleaning. Also there is a sleeve that slides or twists to adjust air/fuel mixture. These can be moved to give a nice blue flame.

Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the info. You’re bringing back memories now. My dad bought a 2nd welder back in the mid 70’s & put me to work after I graduated. Worked for him for a year & decided I wanted to see the world instead of welding & joined the Air Force. Been a long time since I saw a torch tip cleaner.

Thanks for all the responses. Been slow getting back on here to respond. Wife has been feeling sick for the last 4 weeks. She had to go to the emergency room last Thursday night. Catscan revealed she had diverticulitis. On the road to recovery now.

Grill flame issue has been resolved. WalMart sold me a propane tank with a faulty valve. When I brought it home, you had to take a pair of channel lock pliars to open or close the valve. Could not budge the valve with your bare hand. Took tank back & swapped it out. That seemed to be my issue. Flames seem more like they should be. Seasoned the griddle yesterday evening after work & cooked my first burgers on it.
