Keep getting number 5 on temp select screen

Not sure what it is but every time I push temp select dial in to select it keeps coming up with the number 5 flashing. I have to push it in many times to get a temp to select, 200* 225* 185* etc and even then it quickly reverts back to the flashing number 5...

That's not a 5. It's an "S" for smoke mode

thank you for the reply.. Sometimes it's hard to get it to show temperature for setting because when I push the temp controller switch in, it causes that "S" appears almost all the time and wont stop flashing... Thank you again...

Push it in then dial it to the temp you want. Then push it in again to set.

Thats what I do but its almost impossible to get the flashing S to switch to thermo select temps and then sometimes it will switch back to the S and same go around.. It never did it at the start and just is a real PITA....
