I've had this a couple of weeks. I was able to get the pellet side up to 350 once, but have since given up using it to grill. Luckily, the gas side gets really hot and is the reason I'll keep it for now. So now I do a quick cook on my ribs on the gas side, then smoke on the pellet side.
Observations: There seems to be no control at all. The ACT temperature locking in at the SET temperature pretty much proves that. There may be some sort of pellet feed/fan speed combo for every temp setting, but there is no closed loop control. Using a meat probe positioned near the internal probe I can verify a 30 degree difference between the two. BTW, the meat probe seemed to be right on temperature wise. When set on "S", both the internal temp and ACT temp settled at 180 plus or minus a few degrees (until you open the lid). Another fun fact. If you set it at 350, it will go up to 320 (internal ACT) and sit there, but when you turn it down to 220, THEN it goes to 350 for about 10 minutes and then starts cooling down.
That being said alternating between 225 and 250 every half hour (190-220 actual temp) made the tastiest spare ribs I've had yet.
It's disappointing that more time was spent on the app and connectivity than the control software
