Meats not searing or browning

I recently purchased a Pit boss Lexington and I have been having a lot of trouble getting any of the meat to brown or sear. Even if I use the sear station only small portions of the meat will take color. I even purchased grill grates and they don’t seem to be able to provide a sear either. I’ve noticed my temps are all over the place. Any suggestions? I’ve contacted Pitboss customer service but I haven’t received a response.

I crank mine all the way up to the highest setting and sear plate open. I’ve never had a problem.

Same for me as set my temp at 400 and open the sear plate.
