Just bought the verticle smoker model PBV4PS2. Unfortunately 1st time using and the temperature will not regulate to the temp I set. Should be easy but taking quite a while to get to temperature. Appreciate any thoughts on this. Thanks all

The first time I fired up my 820 awhile but after the first time it was spot on afterwards

Patience is key, and yoy can limit the wild swings somewhat by starting low and workimg your way up to temp. If you start high, the controller ends up making overcorrections.

I have found that as they break in, they get pretty steady, as long as I don't start it at 500F or something (it's likely to overheat and shut down when I do).

Welcome from Rhode Island. I have the same smoker, give it time and it will act more accurate. I guess the controller needs time to learn.
