Just got my locklhart.

Maybe you guys can answer some initial questions
1. The instructions say to set the temperatire control dial to "SMOKE" position. How do i do this? Just accept the 180° preset temp?
2. I assume the barrel lid is the lid to the main unit that opens up/down.
3. On the right side of the grill are 2 in/out handles. They appear to be there to control the amount of smoke to the upper section.
3a. Do I put these in or out for grilling/smoking in the main unit.
4. I read that the temperature shown for the upper unit is not accurate. I also saw that one suggestion was to set the meat probe on the botton of the upper unit.
Any other suggestions.

Welcome... when you start up the unit it should be in smoke mode if it had a pid controller, if not, switch to smoke and press the on button.. Many people here have this combo in the forum and will help you out. I'd suggest a wifi temperature probe to check against the Pit Boss probes and the unit's temperature probe, no undercooking or over cooking this way.
