Greeting fellow smokers! Just picked up a Pitboss pro series 2 1150 yesterday so I figured I’d join up to learn all there is to know about my new smoker. Haven’t assembled it yet( tomorrow) but I’m looking forward to using it this weekend. One question I had is would this smoker have the updated controller or do I need to turn it on to check? If not should I be contacting Pitboss right away for a new updated controller?

Thanks and looking forward to participating more on these forums.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new smoker! I would guess you'll be all set to smoke as soon as you plug it in.

We would love to see photos of your first smoke here!

Welcome from SC. Make your initial burn a nice long one. Then coat everything inside with a spray oil. Then heat in back up and work it raising temps up and down. I used half of a full hopper on that first day. Then start cookin the more you use the more it learns.
Thanks! How long should I do initial burn in? I think manual calls for 35 to 40 min to remove residue.

I went 30 minutes on my 820.
Used bacon/ sausage grease.
Key thing to clean it after each use including the temperature sensor.
Stop’s temperature swings
I spray olive oil on the grates after I clean it and it cools off
Hopefully this helps you 🇺🇸🇺🇸

Thanks! What’s best way to clean the temperature sensor and also how do you guys clean the grates? I’m not a big fan of the diamond shape porcelain coated grates. Pain to clean lol
