New to the Pitt Boss

Hi all, New member here and new to the Pitt Boss family. I'm a long time smoker on a Masterbuilt elctric and wanted to move up a few steps. The problem is that my new Pro 820 runs for a few hours and then stops heating. The auger keeps loading pellets but no heat or smoke. Just wondering if anyone has had a similar problem and if you found a solution. I have to say I smoked a pork butt on my first attempt. It stopped twice but I got it going by taking everything out and emptying the smoke pot. After restarting it went out one more time and then stayed going for another 4-5 hours. It went out again and I had to finish it the oven. Turned out to be the best butt I've ever made. Not interested in repeating the process though. Thanks for any help you might be able to give.

No, it should not do that. Call Pit Boss 1-877-303-3134 and leave a call back number. Explain to them what is going on and they can help.

It should not have a "flame out" in the middle of a cook. I have had that happen only 2 times. Once due to a power surge then again when I adjusted the "P" setting too high. it is best to leave it on setting 4. If you run it any higher you risk the pellets feeding and snuffing the flame.

What temp were you running? I can't imagine it going out of set on 200 or 250.

You have a bad controller as this is a common issue and Pit Boss is aware of it. You need to call them and they will send out a replacement.
