I have had my smoker for about 2 years and am not impressed with the quality of the product. In the first year the igniter went out and I have been lighting the smoker by hand. Now the auger isn't working. I checked to see if it was clogged and it wasn't. The motor doesn't activate even when I press the Primer button. This smoker has been very unreliable and it is obvious that the workmanship and quality of the product is very poor. I tried to save a few bucks and purchased this POS but it looks like I am going to do a little research and by a better product. You get what you pay for!

What model you got? Did you buy it new?

Do you feel better now?

Exactly. Another one of these guys that signs up just to complain. Not looking for any advice or anything, but just wants to rant. Maybe a Traeger intern?

Honestly, if the igniter stopped working in the first year, he should have contacted customer service and got a new one under warranty. The auger motor is also under warranty. I just don't get it.

Maybe you should go buy a MAK smoker.
Thanks for the suggestion, I was new to smoking and decided to purchase the Pit Boss as a decent starter. I knew it was cheap but thought that it would last more than a couple of years. I took your advice and ordered a MAK Two Star. Is it true that both Traeger and PB are both Made in China? If true that explains a lot.

So you’ve owned it two years and your just now complaining?!

Yes, one major malfunction in the first year not a big deal, stuff happens, but 2 in two years is unacceptable.
Understand your frustration
Guess I got lucky. I’ve had my 820D for three years now with no issues other than leavin it plugged in during a lightning strike. Luckily I had a new controller in my shop. 🇺🇸🇺🇸

Pro Series and bought it new.
Sounds like you need a new igniter. If you can turn the auger by hand with a pair of pliers, then it's not jammed, and you'll probably need to replace the auger motor. They've been known to break due to the use of a plastic gear inside that strips out. Since you are the original owner, Pit Boss warranty will cover the parts for 5 years. You could fix it (not that hard to work on), and sell it to help pay for your new $3500 grill. Here's Pit Boss warranty and contact info.

Thanks for the info, I won't sell it, I'll fix it and give it to my son in law.
