Hello All,

I'm new to Pit Boss Grills, but this is my 3rd pellet grill. The Pit Boss doesn't create much smoke at all. It will smoke very lightly for about a minute or so every 15 to 20 minutes. The fan runs at all times, blowing on the pellets in the fire box, this seems counter to creating smoke. Seems like it trading keeping the fire box hot for the searing feature, which is fine at higher temps, but I'm trying to smoke ribs low and slow.

Does anyone else have this issue? If so, what was your solution?

When you start your cooks do you run it of the smoke setting first? That's how I run my 1150. If you're wanting a heavy smoke flavor. Smoke tubes are your only hope. I pack mine with pellets and wood chips of the flavor of choice. If I'm wanting a really heavy smoke I'll use two.

Yes, I leave it on the smoke setting until it gets up to temp, 180F.

I have lost my manual and am not sure that there is a “smoke setting” on my 850. How do I find that?

Welcome from Texas to the group!
My 820 has smoke on the dial and I just push the prime button
Hopefully this helps you 🇺🇸🇺🇸
