I tried searching before I ask this question, but I couldn't find anything, please forgive me if this has been asked a million times. I am having a issue with my smoker it's a pit boss copperhead had it for about a year haven't used it since May. I cleaned it out emptied the pellets, cleaned, vacuumed and blew it all out. I started it up and it runs and lots of smoke and the auger is spinning cranking out pellets until the pot is overflowed, not burnt but the Temp will not get above 77 degrees. I haven't a clue what is wrong and would appreciate any information that could maybe help me. Is it the igniter? is there something that I maybe missed that needs to be cleaned? Thanks in advance.

Welcome from Texas to the group!
Check you connections
Could be the igniter or the controller
Hope this helps you 🇨🇱🇺🇸
Thank you! I will try replacing the igniter hopefully that works. Is it normal for it to be just over a year old and I have only used it about 6 times for it to have problems already?

It’s normal but if it’s less than five years old it’s under warranty

Not sure how your model is, but are there any errors or is the display blinking?

My 3 series vertical control has the 3 dots that blink when the igniter is on.

I have had a couple instances where the display temp would blink during the warmup, and that means the set temp wasn't reached in time.

I try to keep an eye on it while its warming up, and when the temp blinking display occurs, I shut it off and turn it back on.

I might have been turning up the temp too soon, when I let it be on smoke for a bit, it has not not been blinky.

I always start mine on the smoke setting with the door open and throw a small handful of pellets into the burn pot first, and wait to see a flame in the burn pot before I put the deflector in, add water to the pan and close the door.

Also, make sure that the main temp probe is clean.

Pit Boss support is great, mine was 2 years old and the controller was bad. They sent me a new one, no problem. Mine kept feeding pellets, too, so keep an eye on yours when you use it to make sure it operates correctly.

Be safe.

Welcome from TN! I don't think it was mentioned, so I'll add that you might also want to clean the internal temperature probe with some good citrus cleaner.

The one I use is this: https://www.lowes.com/pd/Citrusafe-...m4GxmkSXwImS7cZ-kBBoCUeQQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

By the way, there's no such thing as a dumb question, I should know! This forum has a good bunch of people with lots of experience who are willing to help.
