Hi All,
Did my first every smoke today (Pastrami from Brisket).
Recipe calls for smoking at 110 celcius (230 F) for six hours. I recenlty purchased a smoke thermometer from Thermoworks to check the accuracy of the Pit boss thermometer (and to have the remote functionality via app).
Whilst the pit boss meat thermomter was fairly accurate for measurng internal ambient smoker tempretures (the bit boss internal meat tempreture was out by 10 degrees celsius, which is significant).
However what was particulary concering was that the PIt boss smoke temperature was out by 100%. It would read what ever the tempreture dial was set out, however for me to get an actutal 110 C smoke tempreture, the Bit boss had to be cranked up to 205 celsius. Which is a bit of a joke! It maxed out at 180 to 220 C (356 to 428) without usisng the broiler.
I noticed on this forum that this is a typical issue with Pit Boss. Had I known this before my purchase, I would have gotten another brand such as Traeger. The reason I bought the Pit boss, was because of the dual function (gas and pellets).
Does anyone have any tips on how to get the tempreture closer to the readout on the LCD controller?
