pitboss running hot

Hi, I have a pitboss1000t2, this thing runs 40+ degrees what it's set for, customer service says this is pretty normal, to me it's not! i've never had this with my other smokers maybe a 10-20 degree if that. yes I start it right, this model doesn't have a p-setting, pitboss told me to take out the heat diffuser and that should help, does this sound right. any ideas. thanks jim

My Pro Series 820 runs right where I set it...not sure of the design differences between the 1000t2 and the 820. Some thoughts on what could alter temps...windy?...cold/hot ambient air temp?...in a shaded/sunny spot?...what pellets are you using?...are they "fresh" or "old"?
