PitBoss starts up at 350 degrees instead of 180

When I start my Pitboss, it wants to start at 350 degrees and I have to turn it down to 180 for smoke mode. I heard that the default start up temp setting is 180 degrees. My Pitboss works just fine other than that. Do I need to reset something?

Mine does that, too. I can't remember if it holds the previous set temp, or if it starts at 350 each time. I unplug mine between uses, so I wouldn't be surprised if it starts at 350 each time.

I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Mine does the same but I do unplug it after each use. Might hold the temp if it was left plugged in but don’t know.

No sir.. on your model the controller algorithm is programmed to do an automatic preheat to 350°.

As is sometimes said, RTFM. My manual duscribes how to change the start temperature from the default 350°F to whatever you want. If your controller has this capability, I can't say. My 6 series vertical Lowes model has the ability.

Try downloading your manual and word searching for the key words if reading the print version isn't finding it.

I don't know how you know what model one has. I don't get the model to show up anywhere. On my 850 I always shut it down atc180 and it starts the same. I was thinking it starts wherever you shut it down at.
