Hi All
I am new in smoking meat and this forum. This said, I wanted to know if anyone has experienced the following- I purchased my smoker from Lowes on Jan 2, 2025. Received it a week later. Season smoker per directions and did two short smokes with whole chickens. They came out great however on my second chicken smoke, I noticed black flakes on the chicken. See the attached picture. The heat paint had/is bubbling off the metal and circulating within smoker.

This said, I called Danson in Arizona and was told this was not covered under warranty even though smoker is less than 30 days old! Not to mention they carry no parts like this as well as I was willing to buy a new part. I was told sand it down and repaint product..... I can understand if this was a year old but after three smokes? Really?

Lowes was very nice and is sending out their floor model not a new unit but what can you do? Again, not here to complain but curious if anyone has encountered the same..... Hey where can you buy some grease tray liners??? :) Thanks for listening and any input would be greatly appreciated.

Hey M
Thanks for the info./input. The enamel paint has failed and was not applied in the correct manner I suppose as it is flaking off and onto the food. Click on picture and you will see what I am talking about..... and glad to see you are not going through this....

My shock was the lack of support from TEAM PIT BOSS. They would not work with me for a solution on a less than 30-day old smoker with defects.

I am with high hopes this floor demo will be better.... God bless Lowes.... :)(y)
Hope to be smoking soon!

ok smoker arrived and a little banged up but a keeper I suppose. Question for you all. Do you use your water tray and when not do you just take it out or leave in while smoking. Just curious if the water does much...

I use it most of the time with water when cooking/smoking. I think the idea is that the water helps stabilize the temps and provides moisture for whatever you are working. For something like jerky I don’t use water but I leave the tray in.
