The plate onmy grill that slides to sear food is letting a lot of ash to get on the food. Mine is distorted and will not seal off the pan I called pit boss and that item is of of stock. What I did was put a piece of aluminon foil between the plate and pan I turned on the grill and no ash and it heated up faster. I think the drip pan and slide plate will not last long. That is a major flaw in that grill. Every time I clean it rusty pieces fall off.

Sift your pellets through a colander
Stops all the ash and fires
Try cleaning it after each use and spray with olive oil
Hopefully this helps you 🇺🇸🇺🇸

That will never happen with me. If I have to work for 2 hours to cook steaks for 8 minutes no way.. The sear plate has a 1/8 inch gap at one end and a 1/4 at the other. The pellets are wood and burning wood creates ash and that ash will come out. The tech who help me said that happens a lot and that's why they are out of stock.

I'm glad I have not had that problem. My plate and defuser have n ok t been a problem.iv had my 700d for 2.5 years and have no problem. I burn off after every 3rd cook to high and spray with oil vac after every other cook and never problems and I cook a lot 3 to 5 times a week.keep the oil pans empty and the grates clean 🙃 if I amjust doing stakes I use my webber

The pan is a poor design as it rusts real easy. I've been using high heat and that probably warped the plate. I'm going to clean and sand the drip pan and put some 1500 degree paint on it to slow the rust down. It took a long time for pit boss to figure out that the fan don't run all the time at top speed. I clean the grill after every use and about every 2 months clean the hopper and auger tube. I use it about 4 or 5 times a week. Now that I can get the heat to high temp in about 30 mins I use it more. It use to take over a hour to get to 300 and longer for higher temps.

I have a 1600 cs and I smoke in smoke mode for half of the cook usually…but I set it to P6-P7 then set the temp it does change the algorithm and make more smoke with slight temp change
