Howdy all… it seems I can’t win with Pit Boss. Hahaha Long story short:

I smoked some chops, went great. Next time I fired it up (so second use) with a pork shoulder, 1/4 the way through it just eff’d off. Call PB, they refuse to TS and just keep telling me I need an igniter. So they send me one and it fixes it. Yay!

Smoke a few more shoulders and some ribs, then the Brunswick Platinum turned itself on with the cover on and tried to burn my house down. Fire backed through the auger into the ridiculously huge hopper and smoldered. It flashed over and torched the whole thing.

Pit Boss tried to tell me they were going to send me parts. Absolutely not. After sending them lots of pics, I convinced them the guts were all burnt out of it (internal wiring) and they agreed to send me another vertical, but mine was unavailable.

They sent me a Sportsman 7. To some it might be an upgrade, I really liked the app integration (mine actually worked, and worked well. I know some people’s don’t.) But this model fixes some issues I hated about the Brunswick (the dual doors on the front were super terrible. I realigned them several times and they always went back to crap.) Center smoke stack better than the offset, etc.

I get the S7, and this is what I find after opening it. Hopefully they’ll just send me a door, the rest seems fine. The BP leaked like a stuck pig through the door seals, and I’d like to prevent that, the seal on this door is blown out.

Sorry your having issues
Just got off the phone with em, and they’re shipping a door. It’s on backorder, but I can make this one work until it gets here. And honestly I knew what I was getting into when I bought it, all the “Shoulda bought a Traeger” friends of mine are coming out of the weeds, yet they aren’t offering to pay the difference of $3200. Hahaha (BP $600, Timberline 1300 $3800.) So I’ll deal with some crap to save $3200 and get a vertical.

Awesome news

Just purchased "The Lexington" from Walmart. Can only get it to smoke will not heat up just keeps pushing the pellets into the burn pot. Any ideas?

Cowboy1955 actually all I had to do was take the bottom plate off and manually spin the fan a couple of times and it started up. Working great now.

Wow. Pit Boss is kind to send you a new smoker when it is your fault by not unplugging your smoker.

Absolutely. But this is an obvious potentially life threatening issue. Doesn’t take away from how awesome they were in taking care of me. We’re 3 months out with no word of the door for the Sportsman 7, and this one leaks like a stuck pig. Makes good food though! I did a whole turkey for family thanksgiving, two breasts for Friendsgiving, smoked some salt, some duck breast, and another shoulder. Yum!

Keep your smokers unplugged when not in use!
After speaking with the rep, it was agreed that what I did wasn’t unreasonable. (Which I’m guessing tracks… because if not they surely wouldn’t have replaced my fireball with a better/bigger smoker.) I had covered it (AFTER FULLY COOLING DOWN) between smoked because of rain. And when the rain stopped I was initiating another smoke session. It decided to do that for me. Hahaha Customer service advised me if I’m not going smoke for “A day or 2” I need to unplug it.

No thanks. Once it’s cooled down it immediately gets unplugged.
