I just started my smoker today after a good cleaning its a year old Its a PBV4PS2 my problem is when I set the temp to 250 it will only hit 220 and bounce a few degreees up or down i raised the chimney used fresh pellets cleaned the temp probe inside cleaned out the auguer tube I am stumped Its 55 outside now so not cold I see the auger move on the app dont know what use could be the issue

It did this once or twice last summer but most times ran fine. you think my temp probe is gone or maybe an issue with control board I ran out of thoughts on this problem

and help will be great

Have you used a separate thermometer to check if it is off by 30 deg?
not yet I am going out to buy a oven thermometer today it worked good all summer but twice now I put that new app in and the 2 times I used it this winter its been off temp right now I have the temp set to 290 and the cabinet probe is saying 250

Normally if it's cold out I have to set the temperature up some to compensate to maintain a certain temp I want inside the smoker. Add in some cold wind and I'd adjust even a little higher. 50-60 deg. I have the same smoker and love it.

Same here for the model, and ditto what Mike says. The built in wall temp probe is convenient but I rely on oven thermometers to tell me what’s really going on inside.
But keep us posted what you find out.

Thank you for the welcome i did get an over therm and it was very close to what probe temps were saying the good thing was the chuck roast came out perfect when it warms up again will smoke more and see what happens as far as constant temps when temps are like 60+ out I smoke a few times a week all summer

thanks again

I have a PB 4 and find the temp to be 20 to 30 degrees off I have my chimminy down most of the way but general dont cook by temp most of my smoking is set for 225 and rely on the meat prob to get it close and check with a hand held thermometer to finish .I guess you could say I cook by time and meat temp not cook temp
