Temp runaway

I have had my Pit Boss for years. All of a sudden when i turn it to smoke to warm up the temp runs away. I shut it off at 500. The auger never stops. What could be wrong?

Unplug it then fire it back up
If it does it again it might be the controller

I had that happen to my grill. A call to customer support directed my attention to the directions. Start the grill in Smoke position. leave it there for a few minutes until the dots at the bottom of the screen disappear. It means that the startup is complete. Then you can move the temperature setting to whatever you want.
