I have had my PB850PS2 for just under 2 weeks. I have done a brisket, ribs, whitefish and beef jerky. On each try, I am unable to set my temperature in a five degree increment. The app asks if I can set my temp to 225 degrees, I can watch the board climb in individual degrees as it heats, but I can't just set to a five degree on either the board or the app. All of my results have come out well, but have have taken much longer than any recipe suggested.
Are there problems with the boards or firmware?
I am looking for answers before this gets so annoying that I return it.
Thanks for any help.

Mine does the same thing not sure why.

the APP is asking if you can set the grill to 225 to see if you have the old firmware or the new firmware.
the old can be set to 225 but it has 25 degree increments, 200, 225, 250 etc.
the new cannot be set at 225, but it has 10 degree increments, 200, 210, 220, 230 etc.
does that explain it to you?
it's just the APP's way to determine your version.

Its not that it would be a deal breaker, but why is it an issue at all? What the heck is the difference?
why can't I have a 5 degree variance? Is it that hard to get an algorithm to work like an actual thermostat?
If it were possible to do a five degree variance before, why has it changed? The basic premise of having the controller board is to be able to CONTROL aspects of the cook. If you are unable to offer such control, you are being deceptive in your advertising.
Just let the customer know.
Oh wait,... then they may not buy the product.
I believe that you underestimate the brand loyalty you could gain by being transparent with your customer base. Would it not be worth a try?

Okay, that makes some sense. Odd though that I did a beer can chicken this past wednesday and was able to put it to 375 without a problem. I am much more comfortable with it now, and it just did an awesome brisket. Thank you guys so much. It definitely helps to hear from others with similar issues, and what can be done to compensate for some of them. I am considering putting a gasket around my lid. Does anyone have any input regarding them? I would like a better seal, but can it hurt airflow?
Thanks again.

I’ve been wondering about this as well as many recipes seem to call for 225. What are you more experienced guys using in that case - 220 or 230?
