Loving the smoker, (Ham smoking as I type.) Next question. If I want to use a different wood, do I clean out the auger or not?

Of course I clean mine totally out then sometimes I just empty the hopper

Nope. Too much work for so little return. I do this:

It would seem to me that whatever is in the auger tube will be used up as smoker reaches cooking temperature.
In Chapin, SC I have not had moisture issues just using PB Cover. I have failed to cover once..

I wonder how much condensate may be a factor with yuge temp swings in places with frosty mornings and relatively warm temps when sun gets up. Something to think about...
every 2-3 cooks now I clean it out no matter how hard I filter out the dust with a strainer the pellets seem to still create dust and burn back through the auger to the hopper. now its just a normal thing every 203 cooks run them threw and blow all the dust out.
