2 degrees, wind chill -22

So the 1600 performed like a champ in the cold, and so did the Buffalo Bills! The temp in the cooking chamber stayed right around 50 degrees below normal. I did see it drop to 75 below normal a couple times but quickly came back up. This is a pic from when I pulled them to wrap. Unfortunately I did not get a final pick before they got devoured.

Nice they look good. U should of made a third rack lol. I’m battling ErL codes at the moment I got it twice so far today during start up. It’s 3 degrees here. I was beginning to think that these grills don’t like cold weather but urs started at 2 degrees so mine should work lol. I’m wondering if I need to call for a new probe. My auger makes a weird noise too sounds like a high pitched turning then stops and sounds normal. I started hearing this when it was slowly getting colder out in the fall. But when the grill was running for a bit it stopped. Like something needed to heat up or something. I’m gonna take the grates out and check things out then try another restart. It’s putting a damper on my jerky lol.

How did you make out this morning? Did you get it going?

Yeah 3rd time it stayed on I cranked it up too 400 then brought it down to 180 for a bit. Just put the jerky on first time trying it on the 1150 so I’ll see how it goes hopefully it’s done before the snow storm later this evening

I took that shield off that’s by the temp probe and cleaned the whole probe then put the shield back. I’m not sure if that was the issue but that’s the only thing I did differently the 3rd time. I was just cleaning the exposed part of the probe. Behind the shield had smoke residue on it pretty good.

What kind of readings do you get from the two thermometers, the one in the middle and the one to the right?

I have 3 looks like maybe 145ish on bottom and 165 ish on top middle and 175ish on right top. Maybe I should bump it up 10 degrees. My dehydrator says 155 for jerky so I guess I’m in the ballpark. Grill is set at smoke mode so that’s 180 for the 1150.

The pit boss performed like a champ today doing a brisket in upper 20 degree temperature with winds gusting up to 25 miles an hour this morning. It heated right up, but I did have to futz with the settings to get it to where I wanted to be. Did a 5 lb flat and about 8 and 1/2 hours at 230°
