Today, I am taking my first shot at smoking beef ribs. The last 15-20 minutes of my cook I am planning on basting them Having never made beef ribs before, I was wondering what type of sauce you would suggest you use? Do I even need sauce? If so, any suggestions and recipes for this cook would be appreciated

Thanks

Here is the progress so far ..

Seasoned yesterday afternoon. They were marinating for 24 hours before I put them on the smoker at 1:15 pm today.

This is at the 2 1/2 hour mark at 250° I just pulled and wrapped in foil. Back on for an additional 2 hours

More to come ..

No sauce for me; let the rub and the smoke do the talking. It's an old school Texas thing.
Couldn't agree more - I cook my pork ribs the same - no wrapping and no sauce... If guests want bbq sauce, I warm some of my special sweet and savory sauce recipe and serve it on the side for those that want sauce.
