I have the Pit Boss 1250CS. the instructions talks about smoke mode but I cannot find it. My indicators lowest setting is "L" and then you get into temperature range selection. In L mode, you can select the different P settings. Is L setting my smoke setting on this model?

Yes you are correct. In the L setting the temp is not running "closed loop", adding enough pellets to hold the set temp. It's running on a timer so the smoke/ temp reacts based on how many pellets are dropped in.
