Hello all, need some advice. My auger was seized up so i pulled my 820 apart and cleared it out and reinstalled it. I turned it back on and when i add a little resistance to the auger it wants to bind up and slips. Has anyone come across this? Was wondering if it was my motor that is worn, the smoker is about 5 years old.
Thanks

Not sure about your model, but if shear pin / bolt is intact then maybe the reduction box gears have stripped. Motor assembly is inexpensive, I just bought one for a PB700 for 23.99.

Welcome to the group!
If you’ve made sure the pin is in place and there’s no pellets clogging the auger then check the auger motor for damage. This is what happens when pellets are allowed to get wet or moist.
It’s very possible when the auger got clogged that it put such a bind on the motor and damaged it
Let me know what you find
Hopefully this helps you 🇺🇸🇺🇸

This worked in my PB700S.

Replacement Barbecue Auger Motor, Compatible with Traeger/Pit Boss/Camp Chef Wood Pellet Grills, Durable Pellet Feed Drive Motor Replacement, 1.6RPM https://a.co/d/6aPWaFW

I saw motor gearbox assembly that run at 2 rpm vs 1.6 rpm. I think the 2 rpm motor would be more responsive for cold weather climates.

My GMG uses a cotter key to connect motor drive to the auger. My unit has sheared off that $0.59 part 3 times. It takes 20 minutes to replace but saves gear box. The gearbox to auger coupling using a grade 8 socket head cap screw IMHO is not typical across industry standards. Samething on my little outboard engine for prop attachment.

I'd replace it with the same motor and feed rate, some motors are counterclockwise, some turn clockwise.

so replaced motor and it seems to take a lot longer for the unit to get to 400 degrees. Was wondering if the motor that i purchsed off Amazon was the right one. It is an OnlyFlame 1.6 RPM, 110 V 60 Hz 2 Pole Auger Motor. Seems to bog out when the hopper is full but runs when it is near empty. Also temp variance is significantly different between the two thermometers

Check the specs on the one you took out. They need to match
