Anyone know what’s in the competition blend unlike all the other bags there’s nothing saying what flavor woods are the blend. Also is the competition blend bags the same at walmart and lowes or does each competition blend at each store have different flavors.

The old-style bag at Walmart said hickory, maple, and apple. Not sure if that's still the case:

As far as your question about Lowes having a different blend, that sounds vaguely familiar. Maybe they use cherry instead of apple in their blend? Please don't quote me on that - my memory isn't as good as it used to be, and I don't remember where I may have seen that. I could have just made it up.

Yeah the bag I just got from walmart didn’t have anything like that on it just has competition blend.

Is that a 40lb bag that’s the one I just got.

I’ve used both store brands and don’t see any difference
Hopefully this helps you 🇺🇸🇺🇸

My experience, if a company won't say on the bag what the blend is, it is because the blend changes from time to time and/or area to area. I use lumberjacks. they are 1/3 Maple, 1/3 Hickory, and 1/3 Cherry. Says so on the bag.

Pitboss is in a transition. They used to buy their pellets from several regional suppliers, so the content of the blends (and the quality) was all over the place. Some were oak based, some were alder based - a real mess.
Dansons (which owns pitboss, Louisiana Smokers, Country smoker, etc.) bought a big pellet plant recently and is making its own pellets now. I don't know if they supply nationally yet. They are also reportedly making pellets for Costco. So, I think they are moving to the blends others have mentioned, but I don't know how far they are in their transition.

Sorry - I know this isn't that helpful in answering your question directly, but if you get bags that don't match what others have posted, you will know why.

I don't buy any pellet that says blend (hickory blend, apple blend etc.) if they don't put it in writing what is in the blend, they probably cut it with other cheap woods (alder etc.) sometimes I find at Walmart, pit boss bags that are pure, like Apple, Hickory Mesquite. those I will buy and you can tell the difference.
