Competition Blend

I don't buy any pellet that says blend (hickory blend, apple blend etc.) if they don't put it in writing what is in the blend, they probably cut it with other cheap woods (alder etc.) sometimes I find at Walmart, pit boss bags that are pure, like Apple, Hickory Mesquite. those I will buy and you can tell the difference.
Grinning... get...
30 gallon trash can.
3 friends.
2 bags of hickory pellets.
1 bag of Pecan pellets.
1 bag apple pellets.
Everybody grab a bag of pellets and combine!
Label the can, COMP BLEND!

I do not care for it. I purchase bags with only one flavor and mix my own blend. I like the pecan, hickory, apple, cherry and charcoal. Last Charcoal was hickory base. Only place I found it in past was Walmart. Now they do not have any and checked all three Walmarts in my area.

I hate hearing that all the bags of PB competition blend may be a different blend. That’s all I’ve ever used and mine comes from the local Walmart, I sift and keep it dry, and I’ve never had any issues, they’ve consistently had excellent smoke and flavor out of every bag. I’ve never noticed any difference whatsoever, so as long as it ain’t broke, why try to fix it.

Smoke On!!

I usually get the competition blend or the Trager signature blend, depending on what is available locally or on sale. Not identical but I think the wood mixtureis very similar (plus both are hickory, cherry and apple by my understanding). My FB700B loves both. Been considering others but I have gotten such good results that I like sticking with these (maybe a lighter fruit tree for smoking something with milder favor like many types of seafood).

All I use is pit boss competition…according to PB the one from lowes is different than the one from walmart I think walmart one has apple as the wood and the lowes has maple I think I know there’s three woods in the blend and two of the three are the same at each store and the third is different. Wish they would put on the bag what the blend is…what’s weird is if you look at the competition blend bag on Walmarts site it has the types of wood on it but in the actual store it doesn’t at least at my walmart it doesn’t

I would also very much like to know the wood mixture. It's hard to learn to dial this stuff in just right if you don't know which woods are going into it, or in what amounts.
