I cooked some wings to play with my new smoker. I was trying to not overload my hopper but I let it run out. It's the correct method of restarting after I run out just hold the prime button until it restarts? Other than I ran out of pellets it went great and the winds were full of smoke flavor and very good.

The only time I had to prime mine was when I first got it a year and a half a go. But I haven’t let it run out of pellets so a prime on next start is probably a good idea.
I think the idea of the prime is just to get pellets into the burn pot,
I don’t think holding prime until it starts is needed because as with mine it takes at least several minutes for the smoke to appear. Holding prime until that happens may be overkill.
What model did you get and I’m glad your wings were tasty.

I got the Lexington 500. I was trying to keep just enough pellets in for what I'm cooking which is why I ran out of pellets. I want to play with different kinds to see what I like best. I've got a 12 pound pork loin I'm doing next.

I don't try to fill my hopper with the minimum amount of pellets I might need. I just fill it up. There has not been a problem with storing pellets in the hopper. Of course I keep it dry with cover.
