is the PitBoss app really that bad?

Hey Y'all,
Still lurking and exercising my click to buy finger. (Lowes 1077 exclusive)
I went to the apple app store to read up on the PitBoss app and needless to say it didn't get rave reviews.
Most likely not a deal breaker for me, but I have become spoiled with my inkbird app and ability to check temps anywhere I have a cell signal.
The only thing I don't like (but it seems the norm) is having to register and give permissions to some company in China.

Stick with your INKBIRD. I love mine. Never fails me

I use the inkbird. Deleted the PB app years ago

After researching the smokers I ended up here with no interest in the app. There seems to be a lot of issues with it from a year ago and more popping up with a recent update.

I got Meatstick probes and never looked back.

Well, I guess Y'all are stuck with me. Clicked order with "professional assembly" from lowes.

Have never used the PB app only use my inkbird wireless ( TP960 ) app, never an issue.

I’m using the latest version of the app and for now I am fine with it. For my purposes anyway. Which is just to keep an eye on things from afar.

I use the pb app for temp adjustments only so for that it’s worked fine…I had a INKBIRD but it constantly disconnected on me so after loving it when I got it , it’s in the trash now …I am now using the Typhur sync wireless not cheap but Amazon always has sales on it …app even has eta on it after it’s cooking for bout an hour…so far pretty damn accurate

Well this is a tough question. Is the app bulletproof? Absolutely not! PB has had problems with the app/controller connections. Is it usable? Mixed. When i had problems, grill was still very controllable from panel!

TLDR ahead...

Basically the app uses Bluetooth to control/update the controller which can be fiddly. Once connected to wifi, controller connection can be wonky due to how it connects to the "cloud" and then phone. App can disconnect from cloud server while controller and cloud server are still connected.

Bottom line.. i have back up temp probes... just in case.
