First Time at Jerky

I just did my second go at beef jerky the other day, this time starting with an hour set at smoke and then followed up by 2 hours at the 160 to 170 range.
The idea of using the smoke setting was to see if I could get an increase smoky flavor. It seemed to work. Check out the color of the jerky in my picture.
In my case for my device the smoke setting goes to 130.
This run was just a marinade and no rub. I like it but I think the rub definitely makes it better.
