I got my new heat plate today 3/16 carbon steel with a 7x7 304 stainless diffuser plate in the middle over the fire pot location.i did a burn off and ran at 225,250,300 and 400. The chamber seems to run 25 deg cooler than the probe ( I didn't do the heat shield mod yet) It definitely evened out the pit Temps. The heat plate ran 25 degrees variance over the length but the pit ran 10 to 15 degrees variance from right to left. Still waiting on the new controller. But so far I think the plate was 100$ well invested
