How do you guys store your pellets?

My plan is 5 gallon buckets.

First question, how much will a 5 gallon bucket hold.

Second question have you guys found a bucket/lid combo that actually seals well?

I never measured it, but I bet a 20 lbs. bag would fit in a 5-gallon bucket. Buckets and covers I believe you can buy at Home Depot or Lowe's or any good tile store. Have a system to mark your buckets, what's in them.

I cut a piece of the bag and put in the top of the bucket. I also cut a piece of the bag and put it on the hopper with a magnet.

I use a 5 gal bucket from Home Depot. no problems here with. I also sift mine through a colander before putting them in the hopper.

So the HB ones you guys haven't had a problem with them not being airtight?

I'm also wondering how many per 20 pounds so if I get a 40 pound bag do I need more than one

My BIL is a cat person and uses 3 3 gallon buckets of cat litter monthly and prefers unscented. Stack easily and I don't have to air them out before use.

5 gallons...
I use galvanized metal trash cans. Two unopened sacks fit. Sometimes I blend pellets myself so these barrells work for that purpose.
