KC Combo's are now available at Walmart

No I do sift all my pellets and then store them in buckets with sealed lids, try to keep all the dust out and pellets in best shape as possible. My last cook I was messing around and I know myself included hasn’t been impressed with the built in clean out tool, but during the cook I used it but pushed down pretty firmly on it so it teetered and it seems like it caused the wire brush to make a lot better contact with the grating at the fire pit as I had a considerable amount more ash in my clean out tray then I normally get when I just pull it back and fourth. ?
Have you notices is you had an ash build up around the outer part of the fire pit? My last cook was for 6 hrs. and I had a big build up. Almost to the feed tube. Just did a 18 hr. cook Sunday and have not had a chance to check it out.

Yes but I also had that with the Austin XL not sure how you cook but I keep the sear slide shut and the heat deflector covered in aluminum foil, pretty sure it’s just the ash being blown out from the fan then falling down as there’s no true place for it to go. As I said I’ve had the same thing happen on the Austin XL think it’s just part of running a pellet grill.

I have a long thin piece of round metal that I bent the end to form a small L. I can fit it thru the sear plate opening to help push the ash thru. Only have done 2 cooks, one being 6hrs, and the last one being 18hrs. Pushed ashes thru about every 4 to 5 hrs. Will be doing a clean up this weekend so I'll see how the ash build up is in the cup this time.

I use this little scoop I picked up from the dollar store.

This is what I've been using. It works OK, and it was something I have and seldom used.

I sift mine in a net sock that is made to put wet boat ropes in. I just put a big cup full in it and roll it back and forth and its done.
